Skyline
High School, home of the Falcons, is a diverse learning community,
perched majestically on a ridge overlooking Longmont. From
the newly renovated IMC, one can see the splendor of Rocky
Mountain National Park and the Indian Peaks. Students respectfully
intermingle across grade levels, among ethnic groups and in
various interests, including student government and National
Honor Society.
Skyline
applauds the achievements of students as well as the caring,
experienced, academically sound staff who grace the ranks.
Falcons have won the National Merit Scholarship, the Boettcher
Scholarship, and other prestigious academic awards. In Skyline's
22-year history, students have claimed several state athletic
titles and awards at various levels in band, forensics, and
FBLA. Celebration of student excellence is ongoing. The 1999-2000
State Math Teacher of the Year, Dottie Kielian and the District
Teacher of the Year, Carrie Mitchell, both teach at Skyline.
Falcons encourage creativity, civility, and excellence through
Unity classes, Cultura Latina classes, and the Opportunity
School, IPASS, and the Renaissance Programs.
Falcons
mentor through peer mediation, peer tutoring, and the LINK
Crew. Reading classes, the Bring Your Own Book schedule, and
the Six Traits Writing Project encourage all community members
to continue developing literacy skills.
